Eligibility Criteria for NIG Postdoctoral Fellowship

To be eligible for NIG Postdoctoral Fellowships at the National Institute of Genetics in Japan, the candidate must meet the following conditions listed below:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: All World Countries
  • Researchers possess the necessary capabilities to carry out research projects related to genetics.
  • The ones who have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) will be expected to earn it. This degree should be made before the date of arrival at the job.
  • The applicants in NIG before March 31, 2021, are not considered eligible for the program. A former or current postdoc or technical staff member employed at NIG and graduate students (at Department. of Genetics SOKENDAI) is not eligible to apply. Visits for a temporary duration, like internships, are not considered part of the program.
  • NIG postdocs must contribute to the growth of all NIG research. (For example, they’re expected to participate actively in NIG Poster Session, NIG Retreats, and NIG discussions.). Because of this, research plans that require lengthy stays at an institute or university that isn’t part of NIG are not generally accepted.
  • NIG postdocs must present their accomplishments during the NIG colloquium following the end of their employment.
  • Publications should include acknowledgment of the funding by the NIG postdoc grants.
