Here is the requirements for the Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program.

  • Language Required: English
  • Eligible countries: Scholarships are available to citizens of ADB member countries
  • A national of an ADB borrow member country. Applicants from countries that have stopped borrowing from ADB do not qualify for the ADB JSP Scholarship.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, with a superior academic record.
  • Acquired admission to an approved MA/Ph.D. program at an academic institution
  • Two (2) years of experience in full-time, professional work (after a university degree) is required when applying. To be eligible to continue your studies, you must have excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • In good health.
  • No more than 35 years old at the time you apply. For programs that are suitable for senior executives and managers, there may be exceptions. The age limit is set at 45 years.
  • After completing the Program, they should agree to return to their home country.
  • The Scholarship is not available to academic staff.
  • The Scholarship is unavailable to Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, Management and Staff of ADB, consultants, and their families.
  • Scholarships are not available to applicants who live or work in countries other than their home country.
  • ADB-JSP doesn’t sponsor undergraduate studies, distance education programs, short-term or conference training, seminars, thesis writing, or research projects.
  • ADB-JSP will not assist applicants who are already enrolled for graduate degrees.

How do I apply for the Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program?

Follow the below instructions to apply for the Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program.

  • These are the documents you will need:
    • Completed ADB-JSP Information Sheet
    • The company issues a Certificate of Employment for the duration that the employee has been employed.
    • Academic documentation: Both academic transcripts as well as degree certificates.
    • The company issues a Certificate of Income.
    • Take a photo of your Passport.
    • The company issues a Certificate of Family Income. You must have either your spouse’s monthly/annual income or that of your parents.
    • Valid IELTS test
