Types of Military Colleges

Military colleges are divided into 3categories:

  • Service Academies
  • Senior Military Colleges
  • Military Junior Colleges.

 US Service Academies

Students of the service academy get the degree of Bachelor of Science and are commissioned officers and obliged to serve for a minimum of five years following graduation.

How Do I Get Into a Service/Army Academy?

Differentialities Between Service Academies and Senior Military Colleges in the USA

For instance, in the 2021-2022 session, tuition for the University of North Georgia was approximately $21,000 per year for Cadets.

In Virginia Tech, the cost for students in the state was around $23,000, whereas it was $42,000 for out-of-state students.

#3 Military Junior Colleges

Military Junior Colleges are two-year colleges. They allow cadets the opportunity to become officer commissioned within the Army Reserves.

After graduation, students receive an associate’s degree. This is achieved via ECP, which stands for Early Commissioning Program ECP.

To serve as a regular office holder in active duty, they must earn an undergraduate degree from a four-year institution. While they receive their degrees, they can serve as reserve officers. This is the sole benefit of JMX.

Additionally to ECP Some MJCs also offer one-year preparatory programs which allow students to be transferred into a service academy, which is known as the Service Academy Preparation Program.
