The world is slowly recovering from the devastating impact of the coronavirus epidemic. Since the spread of the fatal virus, each country’s standard of immigration processes has undergone significant changes and revisions.

The entire international travel ban was initially halted for residents and immigrants in different countries, including Canada.

This was a wrong move to stop the spread of coronavirus and limit the negative impact on the lives of citizens.

It meant that returning students or students from abroad living in Canada could not enter Canada or travel to their countries of origin.

What Are the Changes and Support?
Students from abroad who have a study permit but cannot travel before the lockdown or coronavirus outbreak can now start their studies online.
This time will count in a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).

Before the outbreak, students who attended online classes in their country of origin weren’t eligible for the post-graduation work permit because they were not considered valid during their time in Canada.

But, following the recent events, IRCC made a series of announcements in the last months to allow online education to be counted towards PGWP admissibility.

People who are trying to obtain their permission to study but haven’t yet submitted some of the requested documents, such as biometrics records and medical examination records, will be assessed as eligible for a study permit.
